About Us
|
Unfortunately, both are no longer with us. A car hit Earl in late 1993 and Sam Ervin was stolen from our front yard in 94. I was crushed, so we bought the first boxers we found, Astro and Trixie. Bradley who loved cartoons at the age of seven named them. What Astro and Trixie lacked in looks, was made up with their good sense. Papa taught them to go raccoon hunting & Trixie learn to swim after ducks, & Astro, well, he was just Astro. In 1997, David and I were transferred to Atlanta. Since I had never house-trained Astro or Trixie, they got to move in with my niece and her family. The kids absolutely adored them. Later in April of 1997, we were blessed with a son from Astro & Trixie who we named Samson. Samson was the first boxer I ever house-trained and he has helped me teach every boxer I have owned since then. Samson also helped me through a difficult time. While in Atlanta, I had to have serious back surgery and I was down for quiet a while. Samson gave me the company I needed during the long ordeal. He helped me to see it was time to get started on my dream of raising boxers. What I didn’t know at the time how hard it was to breed to have show boxers. In October of 97, we moved back home. Papa’s health was starting to deteriorate and I found Papa that white female boxer he wanted, she was named Snowy. There will always be white boxers and I will do my best to place them in good homes where they can be loved by children and make someone smile. Just because they are white is no reason they will not make a good pet. I know my story is long, but I would like to tell you another story of how special boxers have been in my family. The following month after we had move home from Atlanta, we had a terrible tragedy. My stepmother was murdered in my hometown in North Carolina. I lived in North Carolina prior to marrying David and so most of my family still lives there. On the morning of November 22nd, my father had went out to check the deer stands in preparation of our arrival for the Thanksgiving holidays. David and I have 3 boys between us and they all have took to the outdoors in fishing and hunting. We left that morning around 9am and got as far as Birmingham when the call came in on the cell-phone. While Dad was gone, 2 men came in and murdered Joyce, my stepmother. There was a blind toy poodle and a 7-month-old female boxer in the house when the murder took place. The female boxer actually attacked one of the intruders. The investigators took blood samples & 31 days later, the two men were arrested. The blood sample helped to put the men away. This pup is the sister to Samson. I gave this pup to my Dad, for Father’s Day. I believe that God leads us into different and sometimes difficult paths. We must listen and we will learn more about ourselves and what type of individuals we all are. As time went along, I met Pam Stephenson, of Harmony Boxers and later she introduced me to Sarah South of Backwoods Boxers. Through them, they have shown me the world of the show boxer. Now my focus has changed somewhat to own and raise show boxers that will also make great pets. David and I live in Hartselle, AL on 30 acres. We have 3 sons between us, Blake, Dustin, & Bradley. We have several types of animals from Boxers to Tennessee Walking Horses to cats. My husband and I design playgrounds for Early Childhood Programs as our full-time business. My husband still travels some, so Bradley and I enjoy spending time with our critters. It is a passion that we both have. So, please feel free to visit from time to time as we begin our new journey. Meet Keegan, Ch. Backwood's I'm Just a Country Boy our very first champion. Visit more often for more champions later on in the future. |
